Along with selling coffee, the owners of Mystic Bean Coffee Company, Michael and Carol Sasich, roast their own beans and create custom blends for their wholesale customers. Coffee is graded like other agricultural products, and the Sasich's purchase the top three percent in quality.
Carol Sasich, 51, is the manager of the retail side of the business. She has been in the coffee business formore than 30 years, starting her career operating an espresso bar in Seattle. "Almost every business in Seattle had a mobile espresso cart in front so their customers could easily purchase a cup of coffee," she said.
Michael Sasich, 48, owned liquor stores and restaurants in Montana in the 1980s and developed a passion for quality coffee. He joined the Roaster's Guild and has worked his way up from apprentice to journeyman. He is continuing his training to become a master roaster. "There are approximately 200 roasters in the world," said Sasich.
