The WASHINGTON MONUMENT, in the circle at the corner of Cullum Road and Thayer Road, is a replica of the one in Union Square, New York City. - New York: A Guide to the Empire State, West Point section, pgs 367-368.

The Washington Monument was sculpted by Henry Kirke Brown and unveiled in 1916.  The Monument has been moved since the Guide was written and now stands in front of Washington Hall, the Cadet dining hall and centered on the Plain.  The Monument is often the subject of Cadet pranks.  The coordinates listed above are for the walkway directly in front of the monument but at a distance from it, however is the closest the public is allowed.
