Sand Hill Cemetery is justly named as it is located atop a small hill that is made mostly of sand. There are quite a few graves here considering the size of the cemetery lot. Many of the markers are well worn from their constant exposure to wind, rain and snow in this wide open lot, however, one that is still legible is for Joseph Watson, who passed away on August 10, 1860. A close estimate on the number of graves in this cemetery would be around 100. A little research was needed to determine the name of this cemetery, as there was no sign located here, along with no driveway or even a place to pull over and park. I ended up parking further down the road where there was room to pull off the highway, then walked back up to the cemetery.
