According to the
Florida Division of Historical Resources website: "The Old Gainesville Depot, constructed in 1907, remained in constant use as a train depot until the 1930s. This property maintains most of its original materials and is in fair condition. Currently plans are underway to rehabilitate the Old Gainesville Depot."
The City of Gainesville purchased the old depot in 1999. It plans to clean up contaminants in the area and restore the depot. Efforts are underway to develop a Depot Park at the site
