Coordinates are for the entrance located off 4th Ave. Go through the revolving door go left. You will see the entrance to the children's library ahead. The pieces are on the walls. Two are on the right most wall and the other is in the middle. Look up and you can't miss them!
These three pieces were designed by Mandy Greer and were installed in 2004. All three pieces are based on folk tale themes from books found in the folklore section of the library. The pieces are mounted high and are fairly visible from anywhere in the children's section. All three pieces use fabric and other accessories such as sequins, feathers, and buttons.
Babe is large blue ox head. The Phoenix Fairy is a bright red phoenix bird perched on a bright red branch. The Magic Grove is a green branch with bright pink flowers growing out of the wall. It is next to a mirror, giving the illusion from further away that there is more than one branch.
Parking is available on the street or in nearby garages. There is a garage located under the library off of Spring Street. Parking is free for the first 20 minutes in the garage. There are daily tours offered of the library that highlight many different features and designs.
