Previously known as The Hartford Bridge, The Bulkeley Bridge is named for Connecticut governor and United States Senator, Morgan Bulkeley.
Construction began in 1903, to replace a covered bridge, built in 1818 which burned in 1895. Opened in 1908.
This is one of four bridges in the greater Hartford area for crossing the Connecticut River.
