The Ronald McDonald House at All Children's Hospital is a "home away from home" for families whose children need inpatient or outpatient care.
The Ronald McDonald House at All Children's is the world's largest serving a single medical center. Opened in 1980, it was the first Ronald McDonald House in the state of Florida, and now provides lodging for more than 2,000 families a year.
Room reservations may be made up to 30 days in advance. Confirmation is required 24 hours before arrival. The House is located within easy walking distance of the Hospital, and after-hours shuttle service is provided.
Families may check in between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily. There is a $10 charge per family, per night. No one is turned away because of inability to pay.
Lodging at Ronald McDonald House is limited to the patient's immediate family. One bedroom is available per family, with up to four persons in a room. Each bedroom contains a private bath. Children are welcome but must be supervised by an adult. Baby equipment is provided.
Guest families share common areas that include recreation rooms, a large living room, kitchen, laundry, medical library, patio and playground. Families are responsible for their meals, personal laundry and cleaning of their bedroom, especially at check-out.
All families assist with upkeep of the House by doing a daily chore. Volunteers help families with check-in and check-out and lend a helping hand in many other ways.
Bedroom phones have a message system and provide 24 hour communication with the Hospital. Families may use complimentary phone cards to place long-distance calls from bedroom phones. Pay phones are also available.
Ronald McDonald House provides a smoke-free and alcohol-free environment. Adjacent parking is available. There is an east and a west house at All Children's, each providing a comfortable place for families.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay is a nonprofit corporation supported through donations of funds, volunteer hours, services, food and other supplies.
