The Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park is a subset of the longer Skokie Northshore Channel Park. The channel and its adjacent lands were long considered an eyesore. Due to the efforts of the Village of Skokie in conjunction with neighboring businesses, municipalities, and the owners of the land (the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago), the land along the channel was restored and transformed into a park, a portion of which was dedicated to sculpture.
The sculpture park has large installations of various types. With over 60 sculptures, made of steel, concrete, stoneware, bronze, glass, aluminum, wood, and copper, the two-mile long sculpture park lies between the channel and McCormick Boulevard. The park has no set hours, is free, and has several parking spots along the length of the park.
