Le Méridien Chambers, the sister hotel to New York's famed Chambers Hotel, is billed as the country’s first luxury art hotel. It features over 200 pieces of original contemporary art work from the private collection of the hotel’s owner, Ralph Burnet. This hotel's collection includes an extensive array of paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and prints. Video Art is present in all public areas screening 24 hours a day, including guest hallways, restrooms, at night on a wall in the courtyard, and on the TV in the guestrooms. In addition, each guestroom has an original piece of artwork hanging on the wall.
The Art-o-Mat machine is located in the main lobby of the building, just past the front reception desk. If you enter through the main entrance on Ninth Street, walk straight ahead past reception and you'll find the machine on your right. If you need help locating the machine, just ask and they'll point you in the right direction.
The machine features art available for purchase using $5 tokens you get from the front desk. When I visited the machine today it featured a small but action-packed lineup of art from artists featured in the artomat.org database, including Joyce Lyman and Scott Blake. This is definitely a unique, friendly, and appropriate setting for the machine - thanks for visiting!
Joyce Lyman, Scott Blake, Elise Morris
