The Old Allatoona Cemetery is located off of County Line Road near Acworth in northwest Cobb County. There is a subdivision that has been built around it. Sadly, the cemetery is not in great shape, but this is due to age and the lack of care given it in the last 50 or more years, and it not a reflection on its current adopter.
Eagle Scout Adam Miller in 1996 created a project to help persons visit the cemetery.
there was no clear path from the road into the cemetery for visitors. Also the cemetery had no fence to show it's perimeter.
His project involved clearing and marking a route into the cemetery. Outlining it with fallen pine logs. Also then making a split rail fence to enclose the cemetery grounds. Then adding benches for visitors to sit and reflect.
This project greatly enhances the cemetery and is keeping with the "age" of the surroundings. A very worthy project. My pictures do not do it justice.
