The Old Allatoona Cemetery is located off of County Line Road near Acworth in northwest Cobb County. There is a subdivision that has been built around it.

The cemetery is currently being lovingly taken care of and maintained by the Captain John Collins Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Sadly, the cemetery is not in great shape, but this is due to age and the lack of care given it in the last 50 or more years, and it not a reflection on its current adopter.
Many of the gravestones are illegible, either due to cracks, possible desecration, or erosion. Many of the graves are identifiable only by either the hump which is indicative of a grave, or by the indentation in the ground from what can only be the collapse of the grave.
Some graves are identifiable by name because the gravestone is either still erect, still intact, or still close enough to identify it. Some gravestones are likely buried. Others have disappeared, lost to us forever, along with the identities of these restful ancestors of someone. And others are marked only by a piece of rock stuck in the ground and still erect, even after all these years.
