Chicago Harbor Lighthouse was originally constructed in 1893 and was moved to its current location in 1917-18. The lighthouse is currently active and was automated in 1979. The lens used is a Third Order Fresnel lens (which has been used since it was constructed).
After the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871, Chicago experienced a rebirth and as quickly as 1875, the city had little evidence of the Great Fire. Eager to display their new city to the world, Chicago planned to host the World's Fair of 1893. The lighthouse was built with the Columbian World Exposition in mind.
The lighthouse is privately owned but can be seen by boat or from the Navy Pier (which is where the coordinates take you).
