Corps of Discovery II – St. Charles, MO, is located on the north (west) bank of the Missouri River, about 119 feet north of the Lewis and Clark Boat Museum (the “boathouse”) in Frontier Park, about 0.5 miles south of downtown St. Charles, St. Charles County, MO, and about 0.5 miles north-northeast of the northwest end of the Interstate Highway 70 Bridge over the Missouri River. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources set the disk in 2004, and it was dedicated on May 22, 2004, as part of the “Preparations Complete: The Expedition Faces West” national signature event. It is in the NGS database at PID = DG7733: (visit link) . The 12-inch commemorative brass disk is flush with the surface about 81 feet north-northeast of a flagpole, about 5.3 feet south of a four-inch diameter, four-foot tall yellow post, and about four feet east-southeast of the south curb of the parking lot, and about 250 feet west of the north/west bank of the Missouri River. The disk does not have any identifying stamping other than the standard design elements of the commemorative series of disks: CORPS OF DISCOVERY II – 200 YEARS TO THE FUTURE – PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP. To reach from the intersection of Interstate Highway 64 and Interstate Highway 70 in downtown St. Louis, MO, go north and west on Interstate 70 for about 20 miles to the first exit (South Fifth Street) after crossing over the Missouri River. Go north-northeast on South Fifth Street toward downtown St. Charles for about 0.36 miles to the intersection with Boonslick Road. Turn right and go easterly on Boonslick for about 0.5 miles to Riverside Drive. Cross Riverside Drive and continue east to the parking area for the boathouse. Park about 125 feet north of the boathouse and walk to the disk along the east (riverside) edge of the parking area. Recovery originally logged at Geocaching datasheet for PID = JC0053.
