Corps of Discovery II – Louisville, KY, is located in Waterfront Park on the south bank of the Ohio River, and a few blocks northeast of downtown Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. It is in the NGS database at PID = DH2917: (visit link) . The 12-inch commemorative brass disk is set in a concrete walkway at the extreme northwest corner of Waterfront Park. The park is about 0.5 miles northeast of the Jefferson County courthouse in downtown Louisville, and on the south bank of the Ohio River immediately west of the Interstate 65/85 Bridge and a few hundred yards east of the US Highway 31 Bridge. The Kentucky Association of Professional Surveyors set this disk in 2003, and it was dedicated on October 18, 2003, as part of the “Falls of the Ohio” national signature event. The disk does not have any identifying stamping other than the standard design elements of the commemorative series of disks: CORPS OF DISCOVERY II – 200 YEARS TO THE FUTURE – PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP. The disk is located about nine feet east of a seawall, about 10 feet south of a seawall, about 13 feet northwest of the most northwesterly metal light pole in this section of the park, about 76 feet northwest of the northwest corner of a large, black, metal abstract sculpture, and about 200 yards northeast of Joe’s Crab House. To reach by car from downtown Louisville, follow signs to the Waterfront Park parking area at North Preston Street (under elevated Interstate 64). From there, walk west and northwest across the Great Lawn for about 0.2 miles to the northwest corner of the park and the disk. Recovery first logged at Geocaching datasheet for station X-348, PID = HZ1465.
