The land for George Florence Park was purchased with Measure Y funds after voters passed a bond measure in 1974 to fund additional park development, supplemented by state SB 174 funds. The West Berkeley Neighborhood Park Committee participated in selecting the site and the design for the park, and it was dedicated at a picnic held on April 14, 1979. Originally called the Tenth Street/Addison Park, it was officially renamed after the former owner of the site. From 1979 to 1983, the Tenth Street Neighborhood Improvement Association held annual work parties to refurbish the landscaping. The park was renovated in the early 1990s. (From the City of Berkeley website.)

Unless you count the elementary school a block-and-a-half away which is closed to the public during school hours, this small playground is the only one in the neighborhood that kids can get to without crossing a busy street. It has two play equipment areas, a couple of picnic tables, and large lawn area. No restrooms, though.
