DAR marker is what was once a very heavy traveled area, but now the new US-24 bridge is out of town, and this places is isolated and seldom traveled.

LEWIS AND CLARK

Sent out by Thomas Jefferson to explore the great North West, spent three days near here making new oars for their boats, June 17 - 18 - 1804.

"Must Sees"at this location":
The Old Bridge Inn just across the street from this marker has great cat fish dinners, I know I had one. The Port of Waverly is just a few blocks west, and the small park there is very pleasant.
