This marker is found in front of the Pontiac Courthouse. Erected in 1936 by the State of Illinois and the Livingston County Historical Society.
It tells of the story of Chief Pontiac and his efforts to lead the Ottawa and Chippewa Indians against the expansion of the European settlers.
