One of the most dramatic examples of glacial scouring in the Northeast US.

Mount Pisgah (2,751') to the left (E); Mount Hor (2,048') to the right (W), lake level is typically at 1,150'. Willoughby is the deepest lake within Vermont at 300 feet*; 4.8 miles long, .9 wide at widest point.

Photo is taken from a public beach at the posted coordinates, where parking is available. State Route 5A skirts the eastern shore. Shoreline at southern end is private campground.

* Lake Champlain is deeper at 400', but not entirely within Vermont.
