The Van Horn Mansion (Building #91001149) was constructed by James Van Horn in 1823 and is significant for being the first brick building constructed in Newfane. The Georgian/Colonial Revival style structure also served as the site of the first town meeting in Newfane.
James Van Horn and later his sons, James Jr. and Burt, operated a series of grist mills beginning in 1811.
The home was donated to the Newfane Historical Society in 1987 and has been restored to period conditions. Tours are available on Sundays from 2pm-4pm.
