This small marker is the centerpiece of Hamel's Memorial Plaza, located in front of the Hamel Community Building. The paved area measures 18-feet in diameter, and is connected to the main sidewalk with stepping stones. The surrounding area also has a large flagpole, and small shrubs and plants that were specifically selected to have color all year round. This area was jointly constructed in 2007 by the American Legion John Pohlker Post #394 and the VFW Heinzen-Ditter Post #5903.
