Oswego Town Rural Cemetery has the distinction of being the only cemetery containing the first and only WOMAN to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. Dr. Mary Walker was honored for her bravery and heroism as she assisted injured soldiers on the battlefields
during the Civil War. She was born in Oswego Town and spent most of her life here, eventually dying on the family farm, only a mile or so from the location of this cemetery. This is a good sized cemetery, containing several hundred graves, dating back to very early 1800's.
