The historical sign in front of the school reads:
Cobblestone School
Built in 1838, this was the school
house for Genesee District No. 5
for nearly a century. In 1932 the
building became the Livingston
County Museum. The land was given
by Pioneer Wadsworth Brothers
"to remain forever a site for
buildings for educational purposes".
This building is architecturally unique because the original building was built in the shape of a Greek cross. Wooden additions have been added over the years, but the original building remains in its entirety.
The museum is open Sundays 2:00-5:00pm; Tuesdays 2:00-5:00pm (July & August); Thursdays 2:00-5:00pm. The museum phone number is 585-243-9147.
