The Clinton YWCA was founded in 1915 by a group of women who met as a Bible study group. In 1921, the YWCA took over residence in the former mansion of lumber baron Lafayette Lamb. This house was built in 1877 and is currently on the National Registry of Historic Places. In the 1980’s a new structure was built adjacent to the Lamb home. The new building contains a swimming pool, large activity rooms, and the YWCA offices. The Lamb home is still used today to house the YWCA’s daycare center and the battered women’s shelter.
