Located in Milan, Italy, this is undoubtedly THE original "Galleria". Dozens of other indoor malls in the U.S. have appropriated its name, yet none come close to its grandeur.

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a nineteenth century glass-covered shopping arcade. It connects two of Milan's landmarks, the Duomo and the Teatro ala Scala. The "mall" is decidedly upscale. You are unlikely to find a "Cinnabon" franchise here, but you will find Prada and Fendi. Actual shopping is pricey, but people-watching and window-shopping is free and delightful.
