Grand Theater - Alton IL The Grand opened in 1920 seating around 1400 people. Later it was reduced to 1000. In 1954, Cinemascope was installed at the Grand. It closed in 1977 and the last movies were a double feature "Heavy Traffic" and "The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat"
