100 years ago, Sather Gate marked the edge of the U.C. Berkeley Campus. Telegraph Avenue commercial buildings began right outside the gate. Over the years the university grew in student population and land. Now the edge of campus is a block further south at Bancroft Avenue. The present-day photograph shows the student union and Sproul Plaza.
