The Stockton Courthouse was built in 1964, replacing another courthouse, built at the same place in 1888. A golden statue, representing the Goddess of Justice once crowned the dome of the older building and is now placed in front of the new one.

Since this public building was built at the height of the Cold War, a Nuclear Fallout Shelter was incorporated in the basement.
