Located in the small, east-central Missouri community of High Hill, the Farmers Mercantile Co. has been a hub of commercial and social activity since its construction in 1904. Originally, the location of a print shop and the office of the High Hill Enterprise newspaper, the building has served the community as a general store for most of its 100-year history. Still in operation, the store is a living piece of the area's heritage and a rare surviving example of a once common property type.
