Take Route 542 (Hammonton Road) to the Visitor Center, which is a building adjacent to the historic Batsto Village.
Stop in for a small museum of Batsto Village and a look at life and industry in the iron age of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Here you can get informational brochures about the village, purchase tickets to take a tour of the mansion, and learn about special events.
A small Museum Shop is in the Visitor Center as well. Various books, replicas and gifts related to the village and pine barrens can be purchased here.
If you are looking to camp in Wharton State Forest, information and registration starts here, as the Administration Offices of Wharton State Forest are also housed here.
The Joseph Truncer Memorial Library and archives are also located in the Visitors Center and are available by appointment to researchers.
