Can be accessed via main trail from the harbour area, or via stairway from the shopping area.
Baranof Castle was named for Alexander Baranof, manager of the Russian fur trading company from 1791 to 1818. In 1799 he established a Russian fort and administrative centre in Sitka, which became the capital of the Russian colony.
