Bronze plaque mounted on native rock memorial. Memorial is on the top of a 350 foot tall hill overlooking the rolling countryside of northern California. Grove consists of 32 Oak trees that were planted in memory of the 32 Contra Costa County citizens who died in the war. The grove of trees surround a square field of grass in the middle of which is a flagpole. It is a quiet and peaceful setting.
Memorial Inscription reads:
FORGOTTEN BY SOME, THIS MAY BE, BUT FOR EACH ONE LOST WE PLANT A TREE SO ALL WHO PASS THIS LAND MAY SEE THESE MIGHTY OAKS STAND BECAUSE THIS LAND IS FREE.....
There are 32 names listed on this memorial, 22 US Army, 9 US Marines and 1 US Air Force.
Requiescat In Pace brothers - For as long as your name is remembered so too are you.
