Long Description:
This memorial consists of a bronze memorial plaque mounted on a 4 x 4 foot granite boulder which rests on a cement base bordered by natural field stone. There are 3 names of Nevada County men who have given their lives in this war to date:

Lance Corporal Adam Strain, age 20
Lance Corporal John "J.T." Lucente, age 19
1st Lieutenant Nathan Krissoff, age 25

USMC Lance Corporal Strain died as a result of enemy small arms fire while conducting combat operations in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif. During Operation Iraqi Freedom his unit was attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). He died on August 3, 2005.

USMC Lance Corporal Lucente died from wounds sustained from an enemy hand grenade while conducting combat operations against enemy forces during Operation Steel Curtain in Ubaydi, Iraq. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, his unit was attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). He was assigned to Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. He died on November 16, 2005.

USMC 1st Lt. Nathan Krissoff, 25, died Dec. 9 from injuries sustained when the Humvee he was riding in during a routine patrol was bombed in al-Anbar Province, Iraq.

On the day we visited this memorial a copy of Lance Corporal Adam Strain's memorial service was placed at the base of the memorial. Sadly this memorial has provisions to have 7 more names added to it without modification.... Let's all pray that does not happen....
