Long Description:
info taken from their leaflet:
Denver Windmill was built in 1835 and continued to grind corn using windpower for over one hundred years. The windmill stopped work in 1941 when the sails were struck by lightning.
Now it has been lovingly restored to full working order with new facilities for visitors to enjoy. Once again flour is being milled using the power of the wind.
Your visit will include a chance to explore the whole windmill site and enjoy a unique guided tour right to the very top of the windmill tower. You will have a chance to see flour made the traditional way wind permitting! A new visitor centre tells the story of windmills, cornmilling and the people who lived and worked in these wonderful buildings.
Our own tearoom and bakery offer a tempting range of goodies to eat including bread and cakes made from our own flour. A range of hot and cold light meals is also on offer.
We stone-grind our own speciality flour which includes wholemeal, light brown, bran and our unique malty-grain; ideal for those wishing to have a healthier lifestyle; these are available in our well-stocked gift shop which also sells locally produced jams, honey and preserves as well as muesli, spelt flour and of course, high quality gifts.
