It is reported that the sounds of a young child screaming can be heard from the spring house. It is reported that a two year old child was drown by one of family's slaves in 1837. The child was drown by the servant when she was left to care for the children. After investigation she was tried and convicted. She was sentenced to be hung and her sentence was carried out. Both the child and the servant are buried in the small cemetery on the property.
