CAPITOL PARK, L St. between loth and I5th Sts., and ex-tending to N St., is a 4O-acre plot with more than 1,000 varieties of trees and shrubs from all over the world, including the Cedar of Lebanon, camphor tree, gingko, Guadalupe cypress, and the Australian
bunya-bunya. Three acres are planted exclusively with California
flora. A central plot of half an acre contains trees from Civil War
battlefields.

Not much has changed in the park over the last 69 years since the book was published with the exception of the addition of several memorials and monuments over the decades.
