Nelson's column in Trafalgar Square is one of the most famous landmarks in London. It commemorates Nelson's victory at Trafalgar in 1805, the final great naval action of the Napoleonic wars. The statue itself is of Craigleith sandstone, from Edinburgh.
Foggintor quarry, now disused, was one of the major quarries of Dartmoor, and also provided stone for the nearby Princetown prison.
