"The IMAX Theatre at Metreon's first for San Francisco and the largest 3D screen in the world. Metreon's IMAX Theatre features both 2-D and 3-D capabilities and boasts a huge 80' x 100' screen, seating 600 people in its 2-D configuration and 480 people for the 3-D configuration.
The IMAX film format is the world’s largest, with a frame size triple that of standard 35mm movie film, providing a projected image of unsurpassed depth, perception and clarity. To achieve the 3-D effect, moviegoers will wear lightweight headsets with liquid crystal shutters that can quickly change from opaque to transparent, immersing viewers in an unprecedented 3-D film experience.
