This 55-acre, beautifully landscaped garden in the heart of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park showcases plants that can be grown in the California coastal area (Mediterranean Climate) with plants grouped by geographic origin and theme. It includes over 7,500 species from around the world. The garden is open every day and free to the public. Free tours at 1:30 every day. Regularly scheduled educational events and plant sales. Also the site of a large library of botanical texts.
Although there are many other lovely attractions nearby in the park, you may be tempted to spend the entire afternoon here.
