This boulder monument is well into the village park, a large expanse of green. I tried discover more about this man, but no one in this very small village seemed to know anything about the memorial except it has been there a long time. So, I cannot offer whether this man was from Manchester, or came here after the war.
Plaque text:
IN MEMORIAM
SOLOMON PATTERSON
Who served his country
during the War of the
Revolution.
Erected May 30, 1924
MANCHESTER WOMAN'S CLUB
With the gracious efforts of S5280ft, I can now add a small piece of history on this man.
Solomon served in the war from Pennsylvania in First Company, Fourth Battalion, Cumberland county, under Capt. John McConnell, and Col. Samuel Culbertson. He came to Monroe county, Illinois, but removed to Scott county, where he died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. McCracken, in the town of Manchester.
