The Boise Cascade plant had long been a major eyesore for the state capitol. So when the company offered to sell about 2/3 of the land to the city, they jumped at the chance. The main part of the park was opened in October, 1996. Since then, the park has added the historic carousel, Eco Earth Globe, and the pavilion with picnic and barbeque facilities.
