This small battle consisted the action the Confederate Cavalry troops under the direction of Generals Nathan Bedford Forrest and Edward C. Walthall fought against the pursing Union troops after Hood's failed campaign to recapture Tennessee in late 1864. The Confederate Cavalry awaited the Union pursuers along a blind curve in the fog along the banks of Sugar Creek in southern middle Tennessee near present day Minor Hill, Tennessee. The battle although by no means a major action did create considerable consternation amoung the Union pursuers throwing them into great confusion and thus halting the pursuit for some length of time. This precious time allowed Hood's shattered remant of the Confederate Army of Tennessee time to escape across the Tennessee River to safety farther south.
