In an area that was a high traffic tourist area in the 40s and 50s, this was once a US Highway, now a state highway. Around 7 commercial cave tour operations were in the area. The signs and visitors centers are visible and decaying along side the road. Even the town of Lanagan, is almost gone. The roadside park, is in great shape. As many as 15 picnic tables made of native stone, and about 10 cooking pits (today called bar-b-q) are still available. The pits or solid, and grates in place. But seldom does any one but locals use this twisting and challenging road any more.
Also in this roadside park is the State Historical Society's Marker about the history of McDonald County.
