This tower is located at the highest point of Afton Forest Preserve. It commands a view of most of the reclaimed wetland found on this property.
It is designed to provide a large, stable base for bird watchers and their equipment.
The stair steps have a narrow tread and the first steps at the base are a little higher than others. Also, the steps do not have slip-guard protection, so they may be slippery when wet.
