The PNC tower was completed in 1913 and was the fifth tallest building in the world and the tallest building outside of New York City. At 151 meters it is the oldest building outside of New York City to "qualify" for this category. The building was originally the home office for the Union Central Life Insurance Company, who occupied the building until 1964 when they moved to a corporate complex in the suburbs.
The building was the tallest building in Cincinnati from 1913 until 1931 when it was surpassed by the Carew Tower. PNC Tower continues as the 2nd tallest building in Cincinnati and is occupied by the PNC Bank.
