Julia Morgan is buried in Mountain View the scenic Olmsted-designed cemetery in north Oakland, California. She is buried along with family members, on a hillside overlooking the SF Bay.
Description: Julia Morgan graduated in 1894 with a degree in Civil Engineering from UC Berkeley and was the first woman to graduate from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Upon returning to the SF Bay Area, she worked with John Galen Howard.
Morgan designed over 700 buildings mostly throughout California, the most famous being the Hearst Castle. Locally, she designed the Hearst Gymnasium for women on the UC Berkeley Campus and the Chapel of the Chimes located down the street from this cemetery.
