This award-winning memorial was designed by Jeff Anderson of Austin MN. It brings together an array of disparate materials - stainless steel, bronze, black marble, gray and pink rocks, three colors of cement - into a stunning whole reflecting the variety of people who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines.

Both Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies have been regularly held here since 2005.

Former Governor Al Quie spoke eloquently during the dedecation: "Each of us has a choice to make. We can hate and thereby allow evil to fall into our heart. ... The other choice you have is you can love and then the spirit of God will fill your heart. ... Caring about people who are different than yourself ... that's what this world needs."
