The people who rush over this bridge in their cars miss the great waterfall hidden below. There is a footpath at the south end of the bridge which leads down below into Ashgill. From here you will get the best view of both the waterfall and the bridge. The area to the west of the bridge was,in the 19th century, used as a dressing floor of a nearby mine.
