In the centre of Pooley Village can be found an interesting Fish Cross, which was erected by Barton Parish Council in 2000.

The sandstone fish cross is an obelisk structure, with a weather vane on the top. It was placed here as a millennium feature and to commemorate the
12th century charter granted to the village of Pooley by King John to hold a fish market in the village square.
The fish cross replaces an earlier one that was removed in 1860.
The stonework of the cross bears 2 coats of arms which I hope to research into and add to a forthcoming new category.
Pooley Bridge village can be found at the N.E. end of Ullswater in the Lake District of Cumbria, England.
