From the Fresno State Homepage - The concept of the Peace Garden at Fresno State was born when a memorial for Mahatma Gandhi, prophet of nonviolence and Father of the Human Rights movement in the 20th century, was dedicated on Oct. 2, 1990.
Most everyone in the world knows the name Gandhi and what he stood for. He takes a prominent place in the Peace Garden at CSU, Fresno - alongside Martin Luther King and Caesar Chavez.
