Majestic Kinnitty Castle is set in the heart of Ireland has a long and turbulent history. Dating originally from 1209 Kinnitty was destroyed and rebuilt not once but twice and yet it retains character and oozes charm.
Don't let the commercial aspect of this castle deter you from visiting. The grounds are wide-ranging pasture scattered with horses and border on a forestry area that allows walking access.
Visitors not staying at the hotel are welcome to linger in the lobby to admire all the trappings or take refreshments in the lounge. A pub called the "Dungeon", has a separate entrance leading down into the castles darkened stone rooms.
